CDT/ THIS MORNING FOR EAST CENTRAL LEA AND NORTHWESTERN GAINES

COUNTIES...



At 807 AM MDT /907 AM CDT/, Lea County emergency management reported

roadway flooding across state hwy 18 between Hobbs and Lovington.

Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. Flash flooding is already

occurring.



HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.



SOURCE...Emergency management reported.



IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,

         highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor

         drainage and low-lying areas.



Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...

  Hobbs, Lovington, Seminole, Seagraves, Humble City, Seagraves

  Airport, Higginbotham, Knowles, Paynes Corner, Industrial Airpark,

  Gaines County Park and Loop.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood

deaths occur in vehicles.



Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
