...A SPECIAL MARINE WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 345 AM EDT...

For the following areas...
Waters from Moriches Inlet NY to Montauk Point NY from 20 to 60 NM...

At 320 AM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing waterspouts
was located 36 nm southeast of Buoy 44017, moving northeast at 50
knots.

HAZARD...Waterspouts, wind gusts in excess of 50 knots, and large 
         hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally 
         hazardous seas. Boats could suffer significant structural 
         damage in high winds and hail. Small craft could capsize in 
         suddenly higher waves.

The severe thunderstorm will remain over mainly open waters.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until this storm passes.
Wind gusts in excess of 50 knots, large hail, high waves, lightning,
and heavy rain are expected with this storm. If caught on the open
water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded metal
objects.

This thunderstorm likely has already produced a waterspout as 
suggested by radar. Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create 
locally hazardous seas. Seek safe harbor immediately. If caught on 
the open water stay below deck if possible.
