...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM APPROACHING THE WATERS...

The areas affected include...
  Volusia-Brevard County Line to Sebastian Inlet 0-20 nm...

At 114 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm, capable
of producing winds to around 30 knots. This thunderstorm was located
over Grant-Valkaria, or near Barefoot Bay, moving north at 15 knots.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher
waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor
immediately until this storm passes.

S of Currituck Beach Light NC to Oregon Inlet NC out to 20 NM...
S of Oregon Inlet NC to Cape Hatteras NC out to 20 NM...

At 128 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing waterspouts
was located over The Center Of Croatan Sound, moving east at 10
knots.

HAZARD...Waterspouts, wind gusts to 40 knots, and small hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally 
         hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly 
         higher winds and suddenly higher waves.

Locations impacted include...
The Center Of Roanoke Sound, The Center Of Croatan Sound, Pea Island
National Wildlife Refuge, Oregon Inlet, and Kill Devil Hills.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Move to safe harbor immediately as gusty winds and high waves are
expected.

Thunderstorms can produce sudden waterspouts. Waterspouts can easily
overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Seek safe harbor
immediately.

Frequent lightning is occurring with this storm. If caught on the
open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded
metal objects.
