The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  Jefferson County in central New York...
  Lewis County in central New York...
  Northeastern Oswego County in central New York...

* Until 200 PM EDT.

* At 1234 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 31 miles
  northwest of Cedar Point State Park, or 45 miles west of Hammond
  Village, moving southeast at 55 mph.

  HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable 
           tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, 
           roofs, and outbuildings.

* Locations impacted include...
  Watertown, Fort Drum, Stony Point, Carthage, Lowville, West
  Carthage, Clayton, Adams, Dexter, and Redfield.

This includes Interstate 81 between exits 37 and 52.
 
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
