...GUST FRONT APPROACHING THE LONG ISLAND SOUND WATERS...

The areas affected include...

  Central Long Island Sound...
  Peconic and Gardiners Bays...

At 730 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated a gust front, capable of
producing winds to around 30 knots. This gust front was located along
a line extending from 11 nm northwest of Bridgeport to New Haven
Harbor to near Madison Reef to 8 nm northwest of Essex Village,
moving southeast at 25 knots.

The gust front will be near...
  New Haven Harbor, The Thimbles, Falkner Island, and Madison Reef 
  around 735 PM EDT.
  Westbrook Center around 740 PM EDT.
  Six Mile Reef around 745 PM EDT.
  Long Sand Shoal and Central Long Island Sound around 750 PM EDT.
  Orient Point around 805 PM EDT.
  Dering Harbor and Horton Point around 810 PM EDT.
  Shelter Island around 815 PM EDT.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots and locally 
higher seas. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these 
conditions pass.

At 733 PM EDT, strong thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from near East Bay to Barnum Island to near Rockaway Inlet,
moving east at 25 knots.

HAZARD...Wind gusts 34 knots or greater.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and 
         suddenly higher waves.

Strong thunderstorms will be near...  
  Barnum Island, East Bay, Island Park, Jones Beach,
  Jones Inlet, Middle Bay, and South Oyster Bay around 740 PM EDT.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass.
Wind gusts 34 knots or greater, high waves, lightning, and heavy rain
are expected with these storms. If caught on the open water stay
below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded metal objects.
