The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a

* Special Marine Warning for...
  Chesapeake Bay from Pooles Island to Sandy Point MD...
  Chesapeake Bay north of Pooles Island MD...
  Patapsco River including Baltimore Harbor...

* Until 730 PM EDT.

* At 529 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line 
  extending from 44 nm northwest of Middle River to 40 nm northwest 
  of Key Bridge, moving east at 40 knots. Severe thunderstorms will 
  arrive at the northern Chesapeake Bay and lower Patapsco River 
  between 630 PM to 7 PM. Mariners should head to shore now before 
  these dangerous storms arrive.

  HAZARD...Wind gusts in excess of 48 knots.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Boaters could easily be thrown overboard by suddenly 
           higher wind and waves capsizing their vessel. Boats could 
           suffer significant damage in high winds.

* Locations impacted include...
  Fort Smallwood State Park, Turkey Point, North Point State Park,
  Hart Miller Island, Tolchester Beach, Worton Point, Pooles Island,
  Spesutie Island, Gunpowder River, Northeast River, Sevenfoot Knoll,
  Havre De Grace, and Aberdeen Proving Ground.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Move to safe harbor immediately as gusty winds and high waves are
expected.

* At 542 PM EDT, strong thunderstorms were located along a line
  extending from near Huron to 9 nm southeast of North Cape, moving
  southeast at 25 knots.

  HAZARD...Wind gusts to 40 knots and small hail.

  SOURCE...Radar.

  IMPACT...Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and 
           suddenly higher waves.

* Locations impacted include...
  Put-In-Bay, Western Vermilion, Huron, Kelleys Island, and Sandusky
  Bay.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Move to safe harbor until hazardous weather passes.

Frequent lightning is occurring with these storms. If caught on the
open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded
metal objects.
