A Marine Weather Statement has been issued for the following areas...

  Lake Pontchartrain...

At 113 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated a shower, capable of producing
winds to around 30 knots and weak waterspouts. These shower were
located along a line extending from near Lacombe to 8 nm southwest of
Eden Isle, moving northeast at 20 knots.

Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots and locally higher
waves. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until this
activity passes.

Brief, weak waterspouts are possible with this activity. Remain on
alert in case warnings are issued for waterspout development.

...A SPECIAL MARINE WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 215 PM CDT...

For the following areas...
Lake Pontchartrain...

At 134 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing waterspouts
was located over Orleans Marina, moving northeast at 15 knots.

HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts 34 knots or greater.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Waterspouts can quickly form and capsize boats...damage 
         vessels and oil rigs...and create suddenly higher waves. 
         Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and 
         suddenly higher waves.

Locations impacted include...
Orleans Marina.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Strong winds will be dangerous for boaters or anyone near the water.
Boaters should avoid waterspouts and never try to navigate near them.
Make sure all on board are wearing life jackets. Seek shelter or move
to safe harbor until hazardous weather passes.

At 146 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm, capable
of producing winds to around 30 knots and weak waterspouts. These
thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 8 nm south of
Manchac to 7 nm northwest of Kenner, moving east at 10 knots.

Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher
waves and dangerous lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe
harbor immediately until this activity passes.

Brief, weak waterspouts are possible with this activity. Remain on
alert in case warnings are issued for waterspout development.
